##Unlinked Held Items
Custom > ~Patron Services > Unlinked Held Items
The custom report “Unlinked Held Items” shows any items that have a status of Held, but do not have any corresponding patron associated with them. Somehow these items have become unlinked from the person that requested them.
The report is sorted by item ownership and shows ALL consortium-wide unlinked held items (because there are so few). You should look for any items that have an assigned branch of your library and then attempt to find the items.
If the item is found, you should check the item in. You may also want to verify if there is anyone on hold for that title. If someone is hold for the title, checking in the item should trigger the hold fulfillment for that patron. If you cannot find the item, then you should mark it as missing or trace and move any item specific patron requests to another copy of the item.
If you check in an item on hold and it does not become held for the patron, then it is possible that the patron’s hold request has become unlinked from any items. You may need to cancel the existing hold for the patron and then put them on hold for the title again and then try checking in the item again to see if it triggers the hold.
