MARC Bibliographic Validation Rules

Displays the system level MARC validation rules for bibliographic records. This report can be used for initial troubleshooting when errors are encountered saving MARC records.
The + to the left of each tag can be clicked to view subfield and indicator information. Not all tags support subfields. If clicking on the + doesn’t expand anything, that tag may not have any subfields.
CLC can add local fields and subfields to the validation table, open a HelpDesk ticket with details of what you would like added. Some non-local tags can only be added by Innovative. You can submit requests for those through Idealab. Newly adopted tags by the Library of Congress are periodically added during system upgrades.
